Bournemouth is a busy town on the South Coast of England, on the eastern side of Dorset. Bournemouth merges into Poole, forming the largest conurbation in Dorset.
Bournemouth has a thriving tourist industry, as well as established companies such as JP Morgan, employing over 4,500 people, the Nationwide Building Society, Standard Life Healthcare, Cobham Group and Sunseeker International. The local daily newspaper, the Bournemouth Echo, is based in Bournemouth also.
Bournemouth is also home to Bournemouth University, a rapidly expanding University, Bournemouth International Airport, also rapidly expanding, and of course AFC Bournemouth, the only Football League team in Dorset.
There is a lot to photograph in Bournemouth, and in my Bournemouth Photography Gallery you can view a small selection of images taken in Bournemouth and the surrounding area. I try to update my local galleries on a regular basis, and they include favourites such as Bournemouth Beach, Bournemouth Pier, the town centre and some of the surrounding areas.
According to the website http://www.bournemouth.co.uk/things-to-do, the top ten things to do in Bournemouth are
1. Visit the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum
2. Do the Pier to Pier walk, Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier
3. Enjoy a guided walk through Bournemouth's parks and gardens
4. Be a culture vulture in its top entertainment venues, The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and Pavilion Theatre.
5. Enjoy high tea; the ultimate British tradition at one of the many hotels, cafes and restaurants.
6. Hire a beach hut, another great British tradition
7. Get in the water! The sea off Bournemouth beach is perfect for swimming, surf lessons and body boarding.
8. Pack a picnic while in Bournemouth and set off for a good old-fashioned picnic.
9. Go swimming - at the Littledown Centre which has great facilities for all the family.
10. Feeling sporty? Have a game of tennis at http://www.bournemouthgardenstc.co.uk/ on the all weather courts in the Bournemouth Upper Gardens.
